Sweet Escape: Dessert Ideas to Beat Boredom

If you find yourself stuck at home, we’ve got some exciting ideas for you. Gather your foodie friends for a fun night in with these delicious activities. You can satisfy your sweet tooth and engage in some friendly competition too.

1. Dessert Cocktail Night

Whether it’s dessert-themed or dessert-flavoured cocktails that need to match a theme, a cocktail (or mocktail) is sure to be a hit with friends and family where they can let their creativity and favourite flavours flow. To start you off, we’ve put together a couple of themed suggestions that you can either use or take inspiration from.  The first theme could be Chocolate Delights, featuring cocktails crafted with chocolate-based liqueurs such as crème de cacao, chocolate vodka, or chocolate rum. Followed by the theme of Tropical Paradise, where you may feel like putting a dessert spin on some classic cocktails that remind you of warm summer days, such as Blackberry Bramble or Strawberry Margarita rimmed with cinnamon.

 2. Sip and Bake

A similar concept to the popular ‘Sip and Paint’ activity, ‘Sip and Bake’ will involve gathering your mates and either separating them into teams if you’re after a little friendly competition or simply having a ‘free for all’ bake-off where you can drink wine and bake as best you can. The fun kicks off with everyone selecting a dessert recipe to create, or you can provide a selection of recipes for them to choose from. As the baking progresses, participants can enjoy their wine and chat. Like MasterChef, once everyone has finished baking and decorating their desserts, it’s time for the judging round! You can either appoint a few people as judges or have everyone go around the room and rate the creations based on taste, creativity, and presentation showcasing your friends’ culinary skills and creativity while also having a couple of cheeky drinks.

 3. Blind Taste Testing Competition

If you want to change up the dessert game and put your senses (and mates) to the test, then a blind taste-testing competition might be the perfect mini-game just for you. All you need is a variety of desserts, blindfolds and a few mates. The mission? Guess which dessert it is based solely on the taste, texture and aroma of the treat. You can make this super simple by blind tasting pre-made desserts or lollies like macarons, Skittles or even flavoured potato chips

Whether you’re seeking a remedy for cold weather-induced boredom or simply eager to indulge your inner foodie, these activities promise to sweeten your day.
