One Pan Dessert: Tasty Has Never Been So Easy

One-pan desserts are here to make your life easy! Not only does it minimise the mess you might make in the kitchen, but it also saves time because it only needs one pan!

1. Cookie Skillet

Most of us all know and love a classic chocolate chip cookie, so why not make it skillet-sized?! By baking your classic cookie in a skillet as if it were a cake, you have a lot more to share (or keep to yourself) and the skillet will keep the cookie warm and maintain a gooey centre for much longer than your classically baked cookies. Feel free to add an extra flourish of flavour such as sea salt, nuts or cinnamon to make a snickerdoodle cookie skillet. Side note – given the increased size, skillet cookies do take slightly long to bake than the individual versions.

2. Apple Crumble

Apple crumble is an easy, one-pan dessert. Known for being comforting, fruity and warming a winter night, it is simple to assemble. Place apple slices in a circular motion and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Prebake in the oven, or in your microwave for a few minutes, before adding your crumble topping of choice. This could include a mix of oats, flour, cinnamon, nuts and seeds, brown sugar and butter. Bake until golden and serve with vanilla ice cream and/or dollop cream.

3. S’mores Dip

If you’re looking for something to remind you of camping under the stars near the heat of a fire, look no further than baking a S’mores Dip. With only three ingredients needed, this dessert is sure to leave a mouthwatering taste on the tip of your tongue. Use a circular pan or skillet pan and melt a block of chocolate, plain milk chocolate typically works best. Once melted place vanilla marshmallows around the pan, ensuring to cover the entire circumference, then place in the oven to grill the top of the marshmallows until golden brown. Once the top is golden brown, use either plain biscuits or fruit as dippers and enjoy the sticky, oozing chocolatey goodness of the S’mores Dip that will have you begging for more.

4. Mug Cake

If you’re always on top of the latest baking trends, we’re sure you’ve heard of the Mug Cake – a quick and easy cake suitable for a single person made in (you guessed it) a mug! While you can make pretty much any flavour you desire, there’s just no going past a delicious chocolate mug cake for obvious reasons. All you need to do is combine the usual ingredients – egg, flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and milk. Alternatively, if you want to make a healthier or vegan version of this mug cake simply swap out the egg for canola oil, replace sugar with oats and use alternative milk.

These one-pan desserts will redefine and truly simplify your baking experience. Not only are these desserts delicious but they’re also likely to leave less mess in the kitchen, giving you the time you need to focus on other things.
