Meet the team
At Exquisine we owe our success to our fantastic staff, our most valued asset. We proudly employ over 35 staff members who identify with a diverse range of cultures and traditions. Collectively we can speak 12 languages and hail from across four continents. We embrace all people and we are proud to have such a wonderfully diverse staff.
Our production, warehouse and packaging teams are supported by an intuitive Operations Manager, a top-notch Quality Assurance Officer, creative General Manager of Sales and Innovation, and a small office team. With a dashing Director and Managing Director driving us forward, we are dedicated to serving you and your unique needs as best and efficiently as possible.
Our two Directors are brothers, Managing Director David Rose and Director Nigel Rose. David became a partner at Exquisine in 1986 and bought out his co-owner in 1988. Younger brother Nigel joined the team in a sales role in 1994 before becoming a shareholder and, eventually, equal partner in 2001.
David Rose – Managing Director
David Rose has a strong business background with many successful ventures in a wide variety of areas. Since joining Exquisine in 1986, David has nurtured it from humble beginnings – operating from premises of less than 100sqm – to its current, purpose built site of over 4,000sqm.
David began his career in food on the west coast of Australia, owning and operating a restaurant in Perth. Upon returning to Melbourne he completed a Masters of Business Administration at The University of Melbourne before investing his talents in the local food industry.
He is responsible for the strategic direction of Exquisine with a focus on continuous improvement, export and sourcing. Added to his business commitments David is a keen basketballer and has attended five World Masters Games, most recently competing for Australia in New Zealand in the over 55’s mens team.
Nigel Rose – Director
Coming from a background in retail sales, Nigel Rose initially joined Exquisine in a part-time Sales and Marketing role. His part time job quickly became a full time job and it soon became clear that Nigel’s sales skills were the perfect complement to David’s strategic vision. Like his brother, Nigel has a keen eye for business and has a diverse range of interests in other areas, including bicycle retailing. Nigel has a Diploma of Business Management from Swinburne University.
JF Veyssiere – General Manager, Sales & Innovation
JF joined the Exquisine family in 2003, coming on board as Sales & Marketing Manager. With his particular blend of French charm and wit he has been an excellent addition to the team, making new connections and exploring new directions for the business. He is passionate about launching new desserts and exploring niches in the market we can potentially fill for customers. Having moved to Australia for love and a job with the French government, he has stayed because of the lasting connections he has made in Melbourne, including with his much loved Rugby and Petanque clubs.
Bruce Ramsdale – Operations Manager
Our Operations Manager Bruce joined our team in 2014. Under his direction and supervision we have undertaken significant upgrades to our systems and procedures. His breadth of knowledge of production facilities and procedures is unparalleled. He also shares a love of sport with our Directors and can be found on the golf course when not at work or with his family.
Sal Assaad – QA Manager
Quality Assurance is absolutely paramount at Exquisine. Our QA Manager, Sal, is fastidious in ensuring all of our processes are carried out in accordance with our health and safety obligations. Under her direction we have implemented a suite of new guidelines for each stage of production: from receiving ingredients to dispatching our desserts. Sal is regularly the first in the office and the last to leave. When not excelling at her job she enjoys spending time with her family in Melbourne and making regular phone calls to her children who live interstate.
Yvonne Cleary – Office Manager
Yvonne began working at Exquisine in 2006 and is an integral part of our team. She is most likely the first person you’ll meet when you step into our office, with a bright and vivacious personality that is instantly welcoming. She is charged with ensuring the office runs smoothly and efficiently, a responsibility at which she excels. Yvonne is otherwise an avid collector of all things elephant and is particularly keen on water-sports.
Production, Packing and Warehouse teams
Our dynamic production and packing teams are lead by a small group of superb young men, with backgrounds in Engineering and commercial cooking. It is their responsibility to ensure that your desserts are safely transformed from raw ingredients through our spectacular equipment, and delivered successfully into your chosen packaging solution. Our production team are vigilant in their preparation of your dessert and our facility prides itself on maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene. Our packing room is a lively place filled with laughter and chatter as the steady stream of desserts coming from our production area, via our x-ray machine, is packed away safely to be placed in our blast freezers. Our small warehouse team work diligently to ensure all our desserts are stored correctly and that your order is dispatched safely, on time and in full.
